"Naked" Wedding Cake

Liz & Jim + Why We Love Brunch Weddings!

Liz and Jim’s wedding at Woodend Nature Sanctuary this past May was fun and relaxed, yet beautiful and elegant in it’s own magical way. The couple opted for a brunch wedding, featuring a bloody mary and mimosa bar, a “Shot Glass Biscuit” buffet station, a Waffle Station, and a family style served meal.

Her dad makes biscuits and his dad makes maple syrup, so the couple thought a brunch wedding would be a perfect way to blend the two families and friends together.

The couple wanted the day to feel fun and relaxed. In the yard outside the tent, the couple provided games of cornhole with American flag beanbags and Jenga. The light pink and cream colors added to the light and airy aura of the event.

Why we love Brunch Weddings

We love brunch for a number of different reasons. There’s something about brunch that is stimulating and exciting. It’s not breakfast; it’s not lunch; it’s a perfect harmony of both. It is unrestricted and boundless. Feeling adventurous and putting Bacon and Okra in your Bloody? Or are you keeping it classic? Eggs, Waffles, AND fried Chicken? Sign us up. Brunch buffets offer the opportunity to have fun and mix up what’s on your plate. This couple even had a make your own Trail Mix Station!

A brunch wedding is also the perfect symbolization of matrimony-two separate entities becoming one and embarking on a lifetime of endless possibilities and adventure!

What’s even sweeter for couples planning their wedding is that many venues in the DC, MD, VA area offer discounted rates for daytime slots. These discounted rates are often times as much as half the rate of an evening wedding!

Naked Wedding Cake & Pastel Macaroons

The best part about brunch weddings in particular? They end in CAKE! We love the rustic look of this “naked” wedding cake.
